Anglican leader calls for prayer for survivors of Manchester bomb
Archbishop Josiah Idowu-Fearon, Secretary General of the Anglican Communion called on British Muslim leaders to “speak out” and make it clear that “we do not support this extremist interpretation” of the Qu-ran.
He expressed his personal condolences to parents and family members but appealed above all, for prayers for the survivors. He said, “Often we forget about them.”
Archbishop Fearon led Christian outreach and dialogue with Muslims when he headed the Anglican Church in Kaduna, a troubled part of Nigeria. He said it was important for Muslim leaders to oppose violent interpretations of their faith.
The Secretary-General was interviewed at a consultation of African leaders convened by persecuted church agency, Barnabas Fund.
