2 Timothy 2:24 – Preaching only Christ, Crucified.
“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all [men], apt to teach, patient.”
There is a current trend of preaching not the gospel but preaching to impress to be invited again. This kind of preaching focuses on honorarium or tithes or offerings and the profit thereof. It is a preaching that concentrates on the financial benefit to the preacher, it always ends at great appeals to offerings at every opportunity. Unfortunately this is also classified as preaching the gospel.
Preaching the gospel is interested in getting hearers to repent and find forgives with God. It is preaching to get people face to face with the Scriptures in such a way that people are left with an option of a decision. The focus of the gospel is getting into the heart of any listener and drawing on the the inspiration of Scrip to pull out convictions that will crest a changed life, a free from bondage believer, a forgiven sinner, a cheerful believer on the greatest adventure of life with Jesus Christ.
Such believer is turned to Christ to become a hospitable, generous, witnessing, courteous, humble believer, a person of integrity and simplicity whose ethics matches his faith confession. Then the gospel is preached!
